Your kids will be out of school for summer vacation in a couple of weeks. What are you stocking up on? Sidewalk chalk — bubbles — frozen pizza — Band Aids?
What are the most essential items for summer?

Mike made Schmoopy breakfast in bed “Pinterest Style.” He put the refrigerated cinnamon roll dough in the waffle iron and drizzled the cream cheese frosting over it. Delicious!
What can you make in your waffle iron?
Here’s another delicious recipe — try it today.
1 Box DUNCAN HINES Chewy Fudge Premium Brownie Mix
3 Large Eggs
5 Tbsp. Butter, melted
2 Tbsp. Water
Mix all ingredients until well blended, about 30 seconds or 60 strokes by hand.
Spray your waffle iron with Nonstick cooking spray.
Spread batter just to edges of griddle. Not too deeply puddled — it will rise and spread a bit, and there’s nowhere for it to go but OUT.
Cook to well done.
When you’re satisfied they’re done, open the iron, and let the brownies cool for about 45 seconds to a minute, taking the “Open time” opportunity while the crumb is not completely set to use a knife edge or spatula edge to separate the individual waffles or Belgian quarters.
Stick a fork under an edge or through the center by way of the edge to lift and remove.
Serve hot off the grill with a dusting of powdered sugar, a dollop of whipped topping, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup, or….
PEANUT BUTTER BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:
1/2 Stick Butter
1/2 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Confectioners Suger
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
dash of Salt
Cream butter and peanut butter with electric beaters until smooth; add vanilla and salt and beat until combined; scrape down sides, add half the sugar and beat until incorporated; add remaining sugar, carefully beat on low to incorporate, then beat on high until fluffy.
You can glop it on with a spoon, get fancy with a piping bag, or meet in the middle by spooning it into a ziplock sandwich bag, snipping off a corner, and squeezing it onto the warm brownies.

What’s the best thing you learned from Mom?
Tell us and all of East Idaho in honor of your mother for Mothers Day.

Dear Mike & Liza,
My kids both have Facebook accounts and spend a reasonable amount of time on them. I insist on knowing their password and I check their pages daily. I monitor the pictures they post, the articles they read, the music they listen to and even the messages they send to their friends.
My husband says I’m “cyber spying” on them. He wants them to feel trusted so they will behave in a way that is trustworthy. I say I’m just doing what a good mom does.
Liz, Pocatello

Idaho Falls Cleanup week will take place May 5–12. The annual event is a chance for city residents to get rid of unwanted items conveniently and safely.
Common household products such as paint, cleaners, batteries and pesticides all contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable or reactive ingredients – all potentially hazardous – that require special care when thrown away.
In Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, you can take it to the Bonneville County Transfer Station, 2455 Hemmert Ave., on the second Saturday of each month from May 12 until September, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
City-wide Cleanup Week is also a chance to get rid of big household items. To arrange a pick-up, please call Electrical Dispatch at 612‑8439. The city Sanitation Department will also have dumpsters set up across town, along with recycle bins and dumpsters for cardboard drop-off. An insert in your April utility bill lists the locations.

Stop doing this one thing to be happier and healthier. Can you guess what it is?

The answer is actually…stop checking your email at work.
If you’re having trouble concentrating at work, the problem may be too much email. A new study finds that people who disconnect from email when on the job are better able to focus on single tasks, shift between windows far less frequently and have considerably lower blood pressure than they do when checking that sweet, sweet Inbox. The study suggests that workers take “email vacations” to de-stress, but don’t you want to take a bite off that apple, baby? Just a quick peek. It won’t hurt anyone. Daddy needs some sugar, then he’ll go back to work. Honest.
She’s not THAT bad, but Liza Raley doesn’t know how to use a roundabout. What don’t you know how to use? Are you willing to admit it?
