All About Bowel Movements

We all laugh about it, because, let’s face it, it’s pretty funny. But, evacuating your bowels is an essential part of the digestive process. Bowel movements are the way we pass toxins, undigested food, and other waste out of our bodies. Without this process, we’d have to have another way to excrete waste, and doesn’t that just conjure up some unpleasant imagery?

When it comes to a healthy, normal bowel movement, there really aren’t any hard, fast rules. Digestive regularity varies from person to person. Frequency of pooping can vary from three times a day to three times a week. Normal feces is brown to golden brown in color, formed, not too hard or soft, similar in size and shape to a sausage.

While bowel movements vary from person to person, there are ways to tell whether something is wrong or not. It’s important to know what’s normal for you. If your poop is watery, too hard, or it hurts or becomes difficult to go, check with your doctor.
