Dear Mike & Liza,

My sweet hus­band texts me the same thing every day — “How’s your day going?”  I stop what I’m doing and write back a thought­ful response.  I rarely hear back from him.  When I do, it’s a brief, “That’s nice dear.”

It almost seems like he’s going through the motions instead of show­ing sin­cere inter­est.  And he makes me do all the work in the conversation.

If there were a point to the con­ver­sa­tion, I wouldn’t mind.  Oth­er­wise, it’s kind of dri­ving me crazy.

P.S.  I hear and read the Mar­riage Ref com­ments every week.  I know peo­ple might say “If this is your only prob­lem, you should be happy.”  I know this is a small prob­lem.  But I’m ask­ing any­way
